Participants Sought for Earned Value Research in Ireland

Worldwide participants are sought for a short survey on Earned Value Management (EVM) by a graduate student in Project Management in Ireland. Mr. Dominic Greensmith is doing a two-year part-time MSC in Project Management at the Smurfit Business School at UCD (University College Dublin) in Dublin, Ireland. The survey is one research component in his Earned Value Thesis.

According to Dominic, "I am completing a thesis on Earned Value for my MSC in Project Management, the thrust of which is a critique on its (EV) acceptance in project management as a definitive project controls tool. It has been my experience of late in construction project management that there is a general mental tiredness when it comes to burning calories on good predictive indicators, a preference towards living in hope or a reluctance to face down bad news / reality being to the fore."

He adds, "I wanted to research and see if this is just an individual viewpoint or is there a general move away from EVM. I have a simple 2 minute harmless & non controversial multiple choice survey available if you can publicize it for me."

The simple 2 minute survey with multiple choice questions on earned value, looks at the level of usage across industries, the level of understanding of the process, and the perceived effectiveness of EVM.
