2012: ISO 21.500 Project Management Guidelines start up
ISO, the International Standards Organization is managing its own project about Project Management standardization. Currently they produced a document, as a deliverable, that has been called ISO 10.006. This guideline is not a UNE norm for Spain. That guideline is called “Directrices para la gestión de la calidad en los proyectos”.
ISO 10006 was originally published in 1997 and afterwards was updated on 2003. However, it has not been as popular as the ISO 9000 series, or the worldwide Project Management guidelines and standards as the PMBOK ® or Prince 2 ®. Other countries, as ISO members have other popular standards as the PM – BSI 6079 that is a good example. However many industrialized countries are working on Project Management standards (PM). Japan, Australia or Germany developed their own PM norms.
The “International Project Management Association” developed the “IPMA Competence Baseline” that has been extended to 54 countries, Spain is represented by AEIPRO. The ISO 21500 is an initiative to create a PM norm accepted universally.
This initiative has been taken on 2006 by the “British Standard Institute”, an ISO Organization member. The work is developed in the PC 236 Project Management Committee.
AENOR is a member on that Committee, and AEDIP is part of the ISO Committee since 2007.
Currently the following countries are involved:
Argentina ( IRAM )
-
Australia ( SA )
-
Austria ( ASI )
-
Barbados ( BNSI )
-
Belarus ( BELST )
-
Belgium ( NBN )
-
Brazil ( ABNT )
-
Canada ( SCC )
