May was election month at two leading Project Management Associations in Turkey, PMI TURKEY and The Istanbul PM Association ( IPYD ). PMI TURKEY held an electronic ballot; IPYD held a regular General Assembly to report on the past year's activities, and obtain membership approval, followed by the election of the new officers.
PMI TURKEY Elections
PMI Turkey elected Mr. Tolga Ozel, PMP, as their President with 4 Vice Presidents + 4 Directors. They held a well-attended social function in Ankara in mid-June to get members and interested parties to meet each other. With the recently published Turkish version of the PMBOK Guide, 4th Edition under its control, PMI Turkey has attained new popularity in the rapidly-growing project management community in Turkey.
IPYD News
IPYD elected Ms Alev Akin, PMP, as their President for 2010 - 2012, accompanied by 6 Vice-Presidents. The new Board has met 3 times since being elected to plan activities and projects for the new year, and initiated a number of actions, among them the assignment of the DYNAMICS 2011 Project Manager, Mr. Tolga Ozdemir, PMP. Specific Interest Group meetings and new projects on career development and popularizing project management in secondary schools are already underway, with many activities being scheduled for Fall. A WELCOME TO SUMMER social was held at one of the up and coming restaurants on the Bosphorus on June 13, attended by about 20 members, bringing the newly-elected Board and the membership at large together…
