Social Competence in Projects
The PMG focuses on social competence in projects. Social competence is differentiated from self competence and self understanding of project managers. Methods of social competence for project managers include for example teambuilding, feedback and reflection, methods of conflict management, creativity methods, virtual communication, and negotiation. Methods of self competence of project managers are for example self observation and self reflection, stress management, self motivation, managing of own emotions and time management.
PMI sponsored research project: SustPM
Sustainable development is considered in societies and companies and receives increasing attention. The concept of sustainable development in projects is rarely considered in research and in particular the challenges and potentials of sustainable development in project management have not yet been researched in depth.

Claudia Weninger is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today in Vienna, Austria. Claudia is currently writing her PhD thesis in project management and is a Junior Researcher of the faculty of the PROJEKTMANAGEMENT GROUP, Vienna University of Business Administration in Vienna, Austria.
