Project Management happenings in the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia areas

As a former board member of the Washington DC Chapter and the person responsible for obtaining the speakers for the monthly dinner meetings, among other events, I can report, first hand that the Washington DC Chapter dinner meetings are well worth the time to attend.  They offer a wonderful venue (the Sheraton Premiere Hotel in Vienna, Virginia), excellent food and service and top-notch guest speakers for both the after-dinner gatherings and the PM Tools session that precedes the dinner meeting.  Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and you can get all the information you need by visiting their Website at www.pmiwdc.org.  Lastly – if networking is a priority for you as either a job seeker or an employer looking for professional project managers – this is THE meeting in the DC area to make all the right contacts!

OK, So Richmond is not really in Northern Virginia – in fact, the name of the Richmond PMI Chapter gives that away (Central Virginia Chapter – CVC), but I wanted to provide some important information on this wonderful chapter.  I was honored to speak there some months ago and I am pleased to report that they are a very energetic and talented group, indeed.  They really extend themselves for their members by providing not one, but TWO meeting sites per month! They offer both a West End venue and a Southside site to ensure they sufficiently capture all of their members.  On January 21st, 2010, they hosted famed author, speaker and PM expert, Andy Crowe – CEO of Velociteach. For more information on the Central Virginia Chapter, visit their Website at www.pmicvc.org.
