Gold’s Curse
It is probably the most controversial project of the decade: a blend of history, gold money (literally), tradition, environmental infringement, NGOs fighting fiercely for the natural preservation of the area, economic interests stated by Project Company and Romanian Government, unemployed locals caught in the middle of two sides fighting each other for years.
Hard to look from outside on the battlefield and an independent and neutral observer would find legitimate reasons on both opposite sides about pros and cons of the Project.
On one side we have Rosia Montana Gold Corporation a legally established company back in 1997 whose shareholders are Gabriel Resources with 80.47 % shares and Deva Mining Company with almost 20 % shares as Project Company. Mr. Florin Gheorghiu, PMP, is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today in Bucharest, Romania.
