PMI Ecuador Chapter officially launched
On March 11, 2010, the PMI Ecuador Chapter was officially launched at the Swissôtel in Quito.
The event was attended by Brantlee Underhill, CAE, PMI Director of Practitioners Markets, who made an outstanding presentation about the "Value of Project Management“. Enrique Ledesma, PMP, President of the Chapter, spoke about the process carried out from the beginning to achieve recognition of PMI Ecuador Chapter.
The event was attended by over 160 guests from the private and public sectors, as well as media. Major companies participated as sponsors including: BM Laurus, Comware, Corporate Elite, ESoft, Ethac, Image Tech, Paragon Consulting, Tecnológico de Monterrey and TenStep Ecuador.
The creation of Chapter Ecuador started since 1997, the date on which a representative of PMI visited the country. Ten years later, the idea was revived through a community of volunteers with the assistance of Enrique Capella, mentor of the region. During 2009, the Chapter was formed with 94 founding members and was recognized by PMI as Potential Chapter. In early 2010, the Chapter held its first elections to define the Board or Directors, and it was finally accepted as a Official Chapter by the PMI…
