PMSA (Project Management South Africa) News

PMSA’s VP SIGs concluded the preparations for the formation of a community of practice for Planning and Scheduling which is expected to be launched on 19 March 2009. The intention is to achieve standardization and increase the awareness of project planning and scheduling within South Africa and to assist aspiring planners and schedulers to accomplish their goals by encouraging the continued study, curriculum development and academic research in project management planning and scheduling techniques.

The KwaZulu Natal branch conducted an online survey on member satisfaction, bUt results are not available yet.

Another survey in progress is directed at IS Project Managers to participate in Soft Skills research where the importance and value of Emotional intelligence and Leadership style in the project management arena is researched. This Masters Degree research project aims to determine the effect that factors such as age and gender may have on emotional intelligence and leadership style. Your input will add valuable insight into the use of these soft skills for IS Project Management in South Africa.

The members of Project Management South Africa (PMSA) are represented on the Project Management Chamber Board of the SERVICES SETA by Hareesh Patel (National President PMSA) as the Chairperson and Robert Best (Chairman of the PMSA Board) as Vice Chairperson. The Project Management Chamber Board of the Services SETA was re-established on 1 December 2008 and the first Chamber Board meeting was held on 10 February 2009. The SERVICES SETA is holding a National Road Show and all PMSA members were invited to register to attend.
