Sardinia: First Conference in Project Management

On January 14th 2009, the local government of Sardinia (Regione Sardegna and Provincia di Cagliari) in cooperation with the industrial association (Confindustria), organized the first conference on project management entitled “Project management in the Public and Private Sectors”. The focus was on the role of project management as leverage for developing and improving the performances of the public and private sector.

The event was hosted by the county of Cagliari (Provincia di Cagliari), the capital of the Sardinia region. Nearly 150 people attended the Sardinian events, showing an overwhelming interest in project management. In attendance, were representatives from public environment, construction and manufacturing industry related projects. More than 10 speakers were part of the conference: expert managers, academics, and government officers, lead by Stefania Siddi, the conference’s chair and journalist of the Sardinia news paper “La Nuova Sardegna”.

About the Author Antonello Bove Antonello Bove is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today.  Based in Rome, Italy and Washington, DC, Mr. Bove is also a Consultant for the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), the private investment arm of the Inter-American Development Bank.  At IIC, he is leader of the Italian Development Program, a program designed to strengthen European tieswith Latin America and the Caribbean; he spends his time equally between Italy, Latin America and the USA.  Antonello was previously CEO of Robur Corporation, a manufacturer and marketer of gas absorption air-conditioning technology based in Indiana.  He was also previously a Partner at Proginvest  in Rome, Italy, and a business development & government affairs manager at Iniziativa SpA (Milan-Rome, Italy), today Ernst & Young. He is a visiting professor at ABITA - Project Management University of Florence, Italy.  Antonello is the author of the project management book, La metodologia dei 12 Step (lametodologiadei12step.com), published in  Italy by Hoepli in 2008.
