Introduction

Nowadays we face a fashion term: Crisis. Looking at the dictionary we found a definition that fits well: Shortage, high cost... Isn’t it Interesting? What is, then, its actual impact on Colombia? Undoubtedly this crisis will attack the Large Infrastructure Projects: Airports, Roads, Highways and similar projects... But, will it have an impact on small projects? Those that generate a greater volume of work?

The mandatory subject among colleagues is the publication of PMBOK latest version, number four. At the beginning, as happens frequently with all changes, there was a general desolation... Many were arguing that they have already learned with version’s 3 guidelines and felt they were well prepared. Moreover, they had implemented it at their work places after big efforts and struggles with directors and users... Now they will have to start over again.

German holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas. He has over 45 years of experience in the engineering and software industry in the areas of strategic management, Balanced ScoreCard, and Project Management, including 30 years at IBM Colombia. He also worked as a Project Manager at NCR Colombia. Germán is the immediate past president of the PMI Santafe de Bogota Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
