Letters to the Editor
In Response to Paul Giammalvo's
February Viewpoint Article
February 6 , 2007
I’d like to thank Paul Giammalvo for alerting the PM Community about this situation. Only in the Byzantine world of international politics could “earned value” and other control systems designed to track the quality performance and cost efficiency of a project be viewed as depriving the poor of anything.
My suggestion would be an education process; distinguished members of the PM community need to find ways to speak to the World Bank board and other such organizations. Many grant making groups are full of well intentioned people who probably have no idea of how project management can help improve the desperate condition of the poor by requiring recipient organizations and governments to properly execute funded projects.
I would think a 45 min presentation on “How Earned Value helps improve Projects designed to help the Poor” might help Mr. Wolfowitz make his case. Click here to read Paul Giammalvo's article.
With highest regards,
