Mega Projects Conference announced for MegaProjetos 2008 International Seminar and Exhibition has been announced for São Paulo, Brazil in April 2008. The conference will feature keynote presentations by leading authorities and experts on the construction and management of mega projects around the world. Seminar @ Sea III Project Management Cruise - Hard at Work Several members of the PMI Clear Lake Galveston Chapter and of the PMI Houston Chapter are hard at work to finalize the many details needed to ensure the success of the upcoming 3rd annual Project Management Seminar @ Sea cruise from Galveston, Texas, scheduled for March 27-31, 2008. A Strategic View of Project Management! Leading Japanese Strategist to Keynote March PMAJ Symposium in Tokyo The Project Management Association of Japan (PMAJ) has announced an important first keynote speech to be delivered at the “International Project & Program Management Symposium Tokyo 2008 – In pursuit of organizational project management value.” The two-day symposium will be held in Tokyo, Japan during 10-11 March 2008.  Mr. Jitsuro Terashima, Strategist, Executive Managing Officer, Mitsui & Co., Global Strategic Study Institute, Japan – will speak on the “Strategic View of Project Management”. Mr. Jitsuro Terashima, is one of Japan’s top global strategists. He is Managing Director of Mitsui & Company, and CEO and President of the Mitsui Global Strategic Studies Institute. He also serves as Chairman of The Japan Research Institute and Professor at Waseda University's Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies. Mr. Terashima obtained a master’s degree in political science at Waseda University, Tokyo and joined Mitsui & Company, Japan’s leading trading company, in 1973. He has extensive experience in the company’s global operations, and global strategic studies for the company and Japan in general. He was in the United States for 16 years; following a stint at the Brookings Institution, he was Head of Strategic Planning at Mitsui’s New York Office and General Manager of their Washington DC Office. Mr. Terashima has been in his current position at Mitsui since 1999. Mr. Terashima’s speech will be one of five keynotes at the Tokyo symposium, which will also feature presentations and papers by project management experts and leaders from around the world. Mr. Terashima’s speech will be the first keynote on Monday, March 10, at 9:50 a.m.  According to Symposium Project Director Dr. Hiroshi Tanaka, “Mr. Terashima is a well-known strategic thinker and speaker in Japan. His involvement in our conference is also significant because the strategic aspects of project and program management have become more critical for success in the global marketplace. We expect his speech to become a key reference for the global project management community.” The March 2008 symposium will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Japan’s foundation of the professional project management society. PMI Global Congress 2008-EMEA location changed to Malta The Project Management institute (PMI®) has announced that the PMI Global Congress 2008—EMEA (Europe Middle East Africa) will now be held in Malta. According to the PMI website, the location of the May 2008 congress was changed from Marrakech, Morocco to Malta “due to unforeseen circumstances, including some logistical challenges that could not be overcome.”  According to Wikipedia, Malta is a small and densely-populated island nation comprising an archipelago of seven islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Malta is south of Sicily, east of Tunisia, and north of Libya. The country's official languages are Maltese and English. Malta is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, has been a member state of the European Union (EU) since 2004 and is currently the smallest EU country in both population and area.  Malta is home to the oldest freestanding structure in the world: the oldest of all the megalithic temples on the islands is il-Ġgantija, in Gozo dating back to before 3500 BC. PMForum named Media Partner for the PM-04 The Network of Project Managers in Greece (PM-Greece) and co-organizers of the 4th SCPM and 1st IPMA/MedNet Conference on Project Management have selected PMForum as “media partner” for their 2008 International Conference which will be held on the Greek Island of Chios during 29-31 May 2008. The mission of the Scientific Conferences on Project Management (SCPM) is to facilitate communication between international multi-disciplinary team, and to provide a forum for the discussion of topics related to the development of new knowledge in project management and related disciplines.  The Network of Project Managers in Greece, PM-Greece, is a professional project management society affiliated with the International Project Management Association (IPMA), the global network of national PM associations.
