Date and Place for the PMI Latin American The Project Management Institute (PMI®) has announced that the Latin American Global Congress 2008 will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August 2008. Traditionally, this congress was held every year on the month of November. This change of dates leads to a change on dates for presentation proposals. ![]() Four PMI Global Congresses are held each year, in the Asia Pacific region, Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) region, in North America and in Latin America. PMI Global Congresses are often the largest project management related events in the world and include educational seminars, tracks of professional paper presentations, vendor exhibitions, networking and social events, and professional meetings. PMI also conducts regional leadership meetings in connection with each Global Congress, at which leaders of PMI components, committees and operations staff meet on PMI business. International Project & Program Management Symposium Project Management Association of Japan (PMAJ) has announced the “International Project & Program Management Symposium Tokyo 2008 – in pursuit of organizational project management value” – to be held in Tokyo, Japan in March 2008. ![]() This international project management symposium will be the second to be hosted by PMAJ following the International Project Management Congress Tokyo 2001 (IPMC 2001) in 2001, and will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Japan’s foundation of the professional project management society. The symposium will focus on the following topics, among others:
The symposium will challenge to prove “project management as new economic infrastructure and a driver for social development and transformation”. The symposium is being organized in collaboration with leaders of the global project management community and will be supported by major Japanese corporations and agencies promoting project management.
![]() The symposium will be conducted on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th March 2008 at Tower Hall, Funabori, Tokyo, Japan. Approximately 400 delegates are expected from 20 or more countries. The sponsoring organization is PMAJ, with full support expected from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and The Engineering Advancement Association of Japan, plus five to 10 other public organizations. The Symposium Project Director is Dr. Hiroshi Tanaka, President, PMAJ; the symposium project manager is Mr. Tetsuhiro Yamane, Vice President, PMAJ. ![]() PMAJ is the National Project Management Association of Japan, born in 2005 thorough the integration of two project management bodies, Japan Project Management Forum (JPMF – pioneer of Japan’s project management society) and Project Management Professionals Certification Center (PMCC). PMForum to co-sponsor 2nd UT Dallas Project Management Symposium in August 2008 PMForum will again team up with the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) and the PMI Dallas Chapter to co-sponsor the 2nd Annual UTD Project Management Symposium, to be held 18-19 August 2008 in Plano, Texas, USA. The conference is being organized by the Graduate Program in Project Management in the School of Management’s Executive Education Center at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). ![]() According to James Joiner, Director of UTD’s graduate program in project management (pictured with David Pells of PMForum in 2007), “Our partnership with PMForum worked well for the 2007 symposium. Based on PMForum’s growing visibility around the world of project management, we expect them to shed even more light on our event this year.” The 2-day symposium is expected to be one of the largest project management conferences in Texas in 2008.
