Dhanu Kothari named PM Ambassador™ - Dhanu Kothari, author of two project management books and former president of the PMI Southern Ontario Chapter, has joined the PM Ambassadors™ Speakers Bureau. Mr. Kothari is a well known project management consultant and speaker based in Ontario, Canada, with extensive experience managing projects for technology based organizations.
Dhanu Kothari is an enthusiastic and a passionate consultant, workshop leader and motivational speaker with the breadth and depth of Project Management experience backed by 30 years of service in IT and Engineering with HP, DEC, Honeywell, Nortel, Scotiabank, Univac and the Norwegian Computing Center. His speeches, presentations and workshops are consistently rated as “Very Good” to “Excellent” and “Outstanding”. He is currently president of D2i Consulting, a firm specializing in project management delivery and consulting, including Methodology, Process, PMOs, Audits, coaching and training. Dhanu holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Pune, India and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Production Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. Dhanu is a past President of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Southern Ontario Chapter, Canada, and currently President of the Newmarket Rotary Club.
Dhanu has authored two books on Project Management enttitled “Rainbows & Ratholes: Best Practices for Managing Successful Projects” and “From Ratholes to Rainbows: Managing Project Recovery”. Wayne F. Abba is an executive advisor and principal of Abba Consulting, a management consulting firm based in Virginia, USA. Mr. Abba is an internationally-recognized spokesperson for program management using Earned Value Management (EVM). With over 30 years’ experience in program analysis and a worldwide reputation as a leader in acquisition improvement, he was integrally involved in the complete reengineering of US Department of Defense (DoD) contract cost and schedule management policies and implementation. Wayne retired in 1999 from his position as Senior Program Analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology at The Pentagon, Washington, DC. Currently an independent consultant specializing in EVM in the Public Sector, Mr. Abba’s recent clients include the US Federal Aviation Administration, the US Agency for International Development and the US Navy. Dwaraka Iyengar re-elected President of the PMI Dallas Chapter - Chapter Board of Directors set for 2008 The 2008 PMI Dallas Chapter Board of Director elections were held at the chapter member meeting at the Crowne Plaza North Dallas Hotel in Addison, Texas on 8 November 2007. Dwaraka Iyengar, PMP, (pictured) was re-elected president to serve for the next two years. Dwaraka has been serving as chapter president since John Baley, PMP, resigned in order to assume the role of Region 6 Mentor for PMI.
Dwaraka has over 25 years of IT and Project Management consulting experience in the Government, Health, Housing, Insurance, Manufacturing, Finance, Retail Promotion and Transportation industries. Dwaraka is currently Director of the Technical Writing Practice at Innodata Isogen, a publicly traded Content Management Solutions consulting service organization in Dallas. He is also a part-time instructor at Collin County Community College District conducting Project Management Certificate courses. Dwaraka manages offshore development projects in his current assignment and has also successfully done so in his previous two engagements for Fortune 500 transportation and retail promotion companies. Dwaraka was primarily responsible for implementing offshore projects and processes in those engagements. Prior to the offshore engagements, he served as an Engagement Manager for Syntel Inc., an outsourcing IT consulting company that consulted to FORD, AIG, Blue Cross Blue Shield among its clients. Prior to coming to the United States in 1994, Dwaraka served as a Project Manager at various government departments in New Zealand and was also involved in consulting engagements with UNISYS Corp., Housing Corporation of New Zealand, AA Insurance (New Zealand) in various team leader, project management and practice management roles. He was also a team leader of the award winning SWIFTT (Social Welfare Information Today for Tomorrow) development team at the Department of Social Welfare in New Zealand. Dwaraka received his PMP certification in 1998 and has served on the award winning PMI Dallas Chapter education committee since then. In addition to serving as President of the PMI Dallas Chapter, he is also a contributing volunteer on the PMI Scheduling Standards Committee. In addition to Mr. Iyengar, the following PMI Dallas Chapter Board members were also elected to serve new 2 year terms beginning in 2008.

Outgoing PMI Dallas Chapter officers and volunteers for 2008 were honored at the chapter’s monthly dinner meeting on December 13, 2007, where 2008 directors were also introduced. APM Re-elects Chairman Reported by Miles Shepherd in London, UK At their Annual General Meeting at the end of November, members re-elected Mike Nichols to the Board of Trustees. Mr Nichols, a member of APM since 1980, has served on the Board for one year as one of the old Council Members who joined the Board of Trustees on establishment in 2006 to provide continuity of approach and to act as a corporate memory. This election is the first under the new governance system introduced last year.
Formerly a director of British Leyland Cars, Mr Nichols is the chairman and chief executive of The Nichols Group, specialising in large and complex infrastructure projects and major business change initiatives. He has directly managed or advised on numerous mega projects and programmes for the transport, telecommunications, energy and finance sectors in the UK and Far East. He has introduced improved project management to more than a hundred organisations and trained a generation of managers in the programme management. He has also advised on PFI projects, outsourcing, franchising, placement of concessions and the Government's Strategic Defence Review. Mr Nichols is a proponent of seeking a Royal Charter for APM and is well placed to enlist broad support for this programme across industry. He is a board member of the Major Projects Association, a member of BSI Standards Policy and Strategy Committee, Department for Transport's Governance Panel for Crossrail, chairman of STRATrisk Steering Group and has recently undertaken a strategic review of the Highways Agency's major roads and programme on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport. He is a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. Nichols Group is one of the UK’s leading independent management consultancies, advising on and managing large-scale, complex and rapid changes. They operate in both major capital investments and business change programmes. Employing around 100 people, Nichols Group is active in the IT, transport, education, health, finance and government sectors but are probably best known for their extensive rail portfolio.
The Association for Project Management (APM) is the national body for professional project management in the United Kingdom (UK).
