Call for Papers deadline for 3rd Annual
UT Dallas Project Management Symposium extended to 13 March



The Call for Papers for the 3rd UT Dallas Project Management Symposium, to be held August 13-14, 2009 on The University of Texas at Dallas campus in Richardson, Texas, has been extended to March 13. The conference is being sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management (PM) in the School of Management's Executive Education Center at The University of Texas at Dallas, in partnership with Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum. The theme of this year's UT Dallas Project Management Symposium will be "Managing in a Changing World".

Project managers and PM experts, leaders and professionals are invited to submit an abstract for a paper and presentation at this major regional project management conference. Abstracts with author biography and photo are due no later than March 13, 2009. Paper and presentations will be selected by March 31, 2009. Since authors/presenters can attend without fee, this is an excellent opportunity for professional leaders to share knowledge, strengthen their professional profiles, and gain some visibility.

Those interested in presenting a paper at the 3rd Annual UT Dallas PM Symposium next August should e-mail abstract, bio and photo to pmsymposium@utdallas.edu. The 2009 UT Dallas PM Symposium is expected to include five keynotes, 40 speakers, 300 participants and numerous networking opportunities.

Paper abstracts should be on one of the following proposed track topics:

  • Global Program & Project Management
  • Management of Complex Programs & Projects
  • Medical & Healthcare Project Management
  • Engineering Project Management
  • Construction & Property Development PM
  • Project Management in Local Government
  • Project Mgmt for New Energy & Electricity
  • Program & Project Mgmt Tools& Techniques
  • PM for IT, Systems Development & Telecoms
  • Transportation Infrastructure Project Mgmt
  • Human Factors in Project Management
  • Next New Agile and Flexible Project Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • PM for Organizational Transformation and other Changes
Final tracks will be based on the number and topics of abstracts submitted.

Abstract Submission Guidelines
  • Papers should not have been previously published.
  • Papers and presentations should be free of commercial sales content.
  • Papers and presentations should focus on the subject of the title, and provide new contributions to the topic.
  • The length of the abstract should be between 150 and 250 words.
  • Abstracts should be typed in 12pt Times New Roman font in the MS Office Word format, 2003 or 2007 versions.
  • Each abstract must have a lead author who will serve as the primary contact for all correspondence - short author bio should be included.
  • Length of the final paper should be 1000 to 2000 words in length.
The 2 Day Project Management Symposium will include an Opening Ceremony with Keynote Speakers, professional presentations and discussions on a variety of topics, panel discussions, lunches and coffee breaks, a Monday evening networking reception, and a closing keynote address.

The Symposium will be held on the UT Dallas Campus, in the School of Management, a state-of-the-art facility with audio-visual and multi-media technologies in each room. Sponsorship opportunities are also available; for information, contact pmsymposium@utdallas.edu.

The symposium will be sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), in cooperation with the Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum, Inc. Both the PMI Dallas Chapter and UT Dallas are registered education providers with PMI, so attendees can easily receive Professional Development Units (PDUs) for PMP recertification.

The Project Management Program at UT Dallas provides application-oriented education for professionals with significant project, program or general management responsibilities. Established in the Executive Education Center in The UT Dallas' School of Management, students have the option of earning a Certificate in Project Management, a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in project management, or a Master of Business Administration degree with project management emphasis.
