(joint 4th SCPM & 1st IPMA/Mediterranean Network Project Management Conference) in May 2008

Reported by Theofanis Giotis in Athens, Greece

The Centre for Construction Innovation, National Technical University of Athens and the Department of Financial & Management Engineering, University of the Aegean are organizing the PM-04 Conference on Project Management. The PM-04 Conference is a joint venture between the Scientific Conferences on Project Management (SCPM) which have been organized in Greece since 2001 and the 1st IPMA / Mediterranean Network (MedNet) Conference. The theme of the Conference is “Project Management Advances, Training & Certification in the Mediterranean”. Several special sessions on specific issues will also be organized http://pmgreece.gr/content.php?cid=events:scpm-OrganizationofSpecialSessions

The mission of the Scientific Conferences on Project Management (SCPM) is to facilitate communication between international multidisciplinary teams. SCPMs provide a forum for the discussion of topics related to the development of new knowledge in project management and related disciplines.

Researchers, professionals and firms active in the Mediterranean basin and neighboring countries who are keen to expand their activities in the area, should take an interest in the event. The conference has been designed with a view to enhance your professional career and offer the basis for the development of closer cooperation, networking and common initiatives between organizations and people with common departs, cultures and visions. The International Conference is supported by IPMA/MedNet (http://www.ipma.ch/resources/events/Pages/default.aspx)!

Papers related to research, education, training, certification, case studies etc on the whole spectrum of Project Management application are welcome. All papers will be peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the ISBN Conference proceedings that will circulate widely in the Mediterranean basin and neighboring countries. Selected papers from the conference will also be published on selected special issues of international journals.

A number of high level seminars will be organized in the frame of the conference for the first time in Greece (and for most Mediterranean countries). These seminars include a seminar by Gilles Caupin on "Basic training of certification assessors" and a seminar by Prof. Kashiwagi on the revolutionary PIPS approach to project production. Seminars can be attended separately or in conjunction with the PM-04 Conference.

According to Wikipedia, Chios is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, situated in the Aegean Sea seven kilometres (five miles) off the Turkish coast. The island is noted for its strong merchant shipping community, its unique mastic gum and its medieval villages. The eleventh century monastery of “Nea Moni”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located on the island. Chios is the birthplace of Homer and Hippocrates the mathematician, and home of one of the most important libraries in Greece, the Korai Library containing over 95,000 volumes.
