Call for Papers - Fifth Student Forum on Project Management - November 7, 2007 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

The Ottawa Valley Outaouais Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI OVOC) is organizing its Fifth Student Forum on Project Management, to be held on November 7, 2007 at New Hampton Conference Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The objective of the Forum is to provide an opportunity for discussion and exchange of information, results and views amongst students interested in the study and practice of project management.

The scope of the Forum covers all aspects of project management, including, but not limited to:

  • Project Management Principles
  • Techniques and Tools of Project Management
  • Class projects and lessons learned for simulated projects
  • Practical Applications and Case Studies in Project Management
  • Professional Standards

Key milestones for this Forum are as follows:

  • October 01, 2007 - A 200 to 300 word abstract submission due
  • October 15, 2007 - Notification of acceptance
  • November 07, 2007 - Receipt of Full Papers

Submissions should be made electronically, preferably in MS Word or Word Perfect, by E-mail to: studentforumonpm@yahoo.ca or to jriznic@yahoo.ca.

Call for Contributors University of Dallas & True Solutions
to Sponsor Project Management Lunch Series

The University of Dallas and True Solutions, Inc. have announced a new program to foster communication and interchange in project management in North Texas. The two organizations have teamed up to produce the “Project Management Lunch Series”, a series of lunchtime project management presentations and seminars.  The first event was held on January 26, 2007. 

The lunchtime presentations are held at the University of Dallas’ Center for Professional Development, 2301 Ohio Drive in Plano, Texas.  They are intended for project managers who are actively performing project management in some capacity, students in professional development programs and other individuals who are interested in learning about project management.  Project Management Professionals (PMP’s) who want to interact with their peers, share ideas, or learn new information about specialized areas of project management are also welcome to attend and encouraged to participate as contributors.

Future events in The Project Management Lunch Series are scheduled for:

  • September 28, 2007
  • November 9, 2007

UD/TSI is seeking qualified contributors for this event. Each contributor must be a PMP certified Project Manager or a PGmP certified Program Manager. Each presentation should be planned for one hour and should be on a current, important or unique project management subject. Specialized project management subjects are acceptable and encouraged.

What is in it for the Contributors? Contributors can earn valuable Professional Development Units for creating and presenting a formal presentation on project management. And, each contributor also gets the opportunity to talk about their views or specialties in project management and the opportunity to interact with their peers.

How to submit your Proposal to be a Contributor: Only a select few individuals will be chosen to contribute to the UD/TSI Project Management Lunch Series. We encourage each potential contributor to provide the best description available of their proposed presentation.

Call for Papers: International Student Paper Award'08

Master and PhD students are invited to submit papers for the International Student Paper Award'08 in the framework of the international conference happy projects’08: PROJECTS & SALES, which will take place from the 29th – 30th May 2008 in Vienna, Austria.

The international student paper award has been established by the PROJEKTMANAGEMENT GROUP form the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration to offer an international platform for pm master and PhD students to submit and present excellent research papers.

The topics for the international student paper award’08 are:

  • Project management
  • Process management
  • Management of the project and process-oriented company
  • Sales processes and methods
  • Sales projects and programmes
  • Sales tasks of the project owner and the project manager
  • “Selling” project, programme and project portfolio management

The best three papers will be awarded by an international jury of researchers and practitioners. They will have the opportunity to present their contributions at the happy projects’08 conference.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is the 14th December 2007.

Key dates
Abstract submission: 14th December 2007
Notification of acceptance: 16th January 2008
Full paper submission: 29th February 2008

Abstract guidelines
A brief abstract of no more than 500 words must be submitted on a standard form, with the abstract addressing the major aspects of the paper. After the acceptance of the abstract, the full paper has to be submitted until the 29th February 2008. The full research paper must be submitted by students solely and shouldn’t have been published in scientific journals or at research conferences before.
