The topics for the international student paper award’08 are:

• Project management
• Process management
• Management of the project and process-oriented company
• Sales processes and methods
• Sales projects and programmes
• Sales tasks of the project owner and the project manager
• “Selling” project, programme and project portfolio management

The best three papers will be awarded by an international jury of researchers and practitioners. They will have the opportunity to present their contributions at the happy projects’08 conference.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is the 14th December 2007.

Abstract guidelines
A brief abstract of no more than 500 words must be submitted on a standard form, with the abstract addressing the major aspects of the paper. After the acceptance of the abstract, the full paper has to be submitted until the 29th February 2008. The full research paper must be submitted by students solely and shouldn’t have been published in scientific journals or at research conferences before.

The PMSA Conference takes place every second year. In 2008 project, programme and portfolio managers and those seeking to enter these professions are invited to attend and benefit from our tried and tested conference format, which includes three bumper conference days featuring invited plenary speakers and reviewed papers, one- and two-day hands-on workshops dedicated to enhancing specific project management skills, and an exhibition showcasing the latest products and offerings in the project management realm.

Among the goals and objectives of the 2008 Conference are to:

• Promote knowledge sharing between delegates from different countries and backgrounds, with similar experiences

• Develop project management as a profession by providing a forum for debate and discussion

• Enable formal and informal networking between like-minded individuals, in the process promoting collaboration

• Address capacity development in project management and identify areas of concern

• Acknowledge the interdisciplinary nature of project management and identify best practice in the various industries in which it is practiced

• Equip workshop attendees with best-practice knowledge and skills that can immediately be applied on their projects

Project and Program managers, experts and practitioners around the world are invited to submit abstracts for paper presentations at the 22nd IPMA World Congress on Project Management, ROMA 2008 – Project Management to Run – scheduled for November 9-11, 2008 in Rome, Italy.

Paper abstracts should be focused on one of the above streams. The following guidelines have been provided for prospective authors and presenters:

• The official language of the congress is English

• Papers and presentations should be free of commercial sales content

• Papers and presentations should focus on the subject of the title, and preferably provide new contributions to the topic

• The length of the abstract should be between 150 and 200 words

• Abstracts shall be typed in 12pt Times New Roman font in the MS Office Word format, 2000 or 2003 versions

• Each abstract must have a lead author who will serve as the primary contact for all correspondence.

• Length of the final paper should be between 1000 to 2000 words in length.

• Name of lead author and other author(s)

• Up to 5 bullet points summarizing the content (aim, scope, main issues, conclusions)

• Author(s) affiliations and a short biography

According to Jim Joiner, Director of the UT Dallas graduate program in project management, “Our first symposium in 2007 was a success, so we are ready to grow this conference into a world class event. We think that North Texas is ready for a major annual project management event to promote project management more visibly among local organizations. The Dallas/Ft Worth area is home to some of the world’s leading organizations in several industries. We want them to also be leaders in project management.”

The Symposium will be held at the Plano Centre in Plano, Texas. Again, according to Mr. Joiner, “both UT Dallas and the PMI Chapter are Registered Education Providers with PMI, so attendees should receive up to 12 PDUs. Paper presenters can receive more. Full registration fee will only be $400 for the two-day conference, UTD students and PMI members will receive a discount, so we expect a good turnout.”

Project management experts, leaders and professionals worldwide are invited to email an abstract for presentation of a professional paper on one of the above topics, according to the following guidelines.

• Papers should not have been previously published

• Papers and presentations should be free of commercial sales content

Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be expected to deliver a final paper and to deliver a presentation at the symposium in Plano next August, according to the final symposium schedule.
