Introduction to the Book

The book attempts to introduce the need for effectiveness while being proactive. The suggestion of being “lazy” provides a synonym for actually being effective in focusing ones project management efforts and learning to exercise these efforts where it really matters or where they make the most impact. Lazy does not mean unsuccessful. We only want to make the most impact as we apply our skills to achieving project objectives and satisfying all stakeholders.

Overview of Book’s Structure

First, the book being organized in fifteen chapters that were only discernable from the table of contents and pages, without using numbers. It begins with the science of laziness, intelligence of laziness and a final definition (1-3). From 4-11, the book attempts to expound on the various stages of managing a project. Understanding what is most required, and how a project will shape up, fail or succeed will depend on the project managers’ ability to assimilate the requirements of the project, as he continuously focuses on how best to be effective and make the most impact. A project manager should be directing the project but not picking up the very heavy, heavy load to the delivery gate himself. These explored the art of delegation, adopting “The Productive Laziness” approach, using your best resources and team in a most effective way…

David Olutusin is a Geological Consultant that provides sub-consulting services through Belloy Petroleum Consultants Limited, based in Calgary, Canada. His current job is as a Consultant/Wellsite Geologist, consulting for oil and gas companies operating in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. He oversees geological operations often before and during oil & gas drilling, as the Geologist on location. Mr. Olutusin has experience in Clastics, Carbonates, Vertical, Horizontal, and Deviated wells. Others include Conventional oil, Heavy oil, Tight Gas, Shallow and Deep wells.  Previous experience includes Groundwater development, Water borehole construction, Engineering geology, and Geophysical investigations. He is a Project Management Professional, PMP; Certified Petroleum Geologist, CPG-AAPG; and licensed to practice in Alberta, P.Geol, and Saskatchewan, P.Geo; and a Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada, FGAC. Mr. Olutusin obtained an MBA (2009) and holds a Graduate Certificate in Project Management (2008) both from the University of Texas At Dallas, USA; and B.Sc. with honors in Geology from the University of Ibadan, Nigera (1993).
