Introduction to the Book The author, Meri Williams, is a project manager of large multinational projects as well as a web developer. In addition to project management Ms Williams is also an author. Ms Williams enjoys motorbikes, shooting, tattoos and traveling to her native home of South Africa. The Principles of Project Managementby Meri Williams provides an entertaining account and thoughtful perspective on the science and art of project management. This book is an excellent resource to students, and project management novice. In reviewing this book, the principal criteria included structure, Highlights (what I liked), and shortfalls. While editing errors and organizational incongruities plague some of the latter chapters, many of the shortfalls of this first edition will likely be alleviated by later editions. These problems are only a minor distraction to the story being told.
Book Title:The Handbook of Program Management
Introduction to the Book This book reflects the current state of program management. In his forward, Dr. Brown states that his book will provide "a framework of structured, organized common sense". He observes that it requires "leadership and integrity to repeatedly execute successfully. You can accomplish this either old school or new school style.
Book Title:Project Decisions: The Art and Science Introduction to the Book One of the core Project management imperatives is the ability to formulate and make the right decisions. It’s not a surprise then that the most important and often overlooked areas of project management is related to psychology or judgment and decision-making. Lev Virine & Michael Trumper introduce the basic principles of the behavioral branch of decision analysis theory. They dedicate separate chapters to decision-making in groups, reviews and evaluation of decisions, multi-criteria decision-making and other important aspects of decision analysis. By framing issues, identifying risks, eliciting stakeholder preferences, and suggesting alternative approaches, this book offers workable solutions in project management. This book reviews and extends the material typically presented in introductory texts. Not many books cover the broad scope of decision analysis at an advanced level as this one does. It will be a valuable resource for those interested in the process behind decision making as well as project managers and project team members.
