The application by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) for organizing the 25th International Project Management Association (IPMA) World Congress on Project Management was accepted by the IPMA Council of Delegates at the council meeting in Dublin, Ireland on 26.9.2009. The application was presented by Dr Bill Young, AIPM National President, and Mr Ian Baxter, AIPM General Manager. According to Dr Young, "AIPM is delighted to invite IPMA leaders and members from around the world to visit Australia in 2011 for the 25th IPMA World Congress. We will combine our annual conference in order to focus all of our resources on the IPMA congress, so it will be a great event. Now that we are a member of IPMA, we are excited to have our proposal accepted by the IPMA council; we will be even happier to welcome you to Brisbane in approximately 23 months."

Mr Baxter showed a film about Brisbane that showcased Queensland's natural beauty and features, including the Great Barrier Reef just off the coast. According to Mr. Baxter, "We have already booked the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre, ranked one of the best in the world. There are hotels nearby and everything you will need for a great conference experience. Well before the conference arrives, we will have arranged outstanding speakers, and diverse program and entertainment for all - Australian style. You won't want to miss this opportunity to visit Australia."

According to IPMA President Brigitte Schaden, "It's time for us to strengthen IPMA visibility in the Asia Pacific region and there can't be a better opportunity than to have an IPMA World Congress in Australia. I am really happy that AIPM commitment to IPMA is so strong that they applied for the World Congress 2011 immediately after having become a member of IPMA. The whole IPMA family looks forward to this upcoming exiting event."

Further information on the 25th IPMA World Congress will be available soon.
