Pmi Opens Australasian Office – Six Months On
The Project Management Institute (PMI) opened an Australasian office in Sydney, NSW, on 10 January 2010. I met with Mr. Anwar Benjamin, the Head of the Office, to talk about his first few months on the job, and what he and PMI hope to accomplish with the regional office.
PMI has been steadily growing its formal presence around the world. Following the establishment of support offices in Europe, China, Singapore and India, this latest venture increases PMI’s formal presence in Australasia and will support organisations and regional governments in better managing large and complex projects that achieve and exceed desired results through the use of the global standards and products offered by the institute.
However, unlike PMI’s other regional offices which have both a support and strategic function, the Australasian office has only a strategic role. Support for the institute’s 7,000 plus members and the Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s) in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands region will continue to be provided through the Singapore Customer Service Centre. Jürgen is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), is DiSC- and SDI-accredited, and an Advanced Toastmaster (Gold). He holds an Education Diploma, a Masters degree in History and an MBA in International Project Management and Organisational Development, and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment.
