Nepal’s Project Management Association joins IPMA

Project Management Association of Nepal (PMAN), established in January 2006, has been formally accepted as a national member association (MA) by the members of the Council of Delegates (CoD) meeting of International Project Management Association (IPMA) that convened in Dublin, Ireland on September 26 – 27. It was hosted by the Project Management Institute Ireland. There were representatives from more than 35 countries for the meeting.

PMAN had submitted its application in June 2009 to the Executive Board of IPMA for membership. After reviewing the application, it was recommended for approval by the CoD. Representative from the applying association have to be present to address the council meeting.

Suraj Dahal is a visiting faculty of project management at National College and a MPhil student at Kathmandu University School of Management. He completed his BSEE in 1997 and MBA in 1999 from the University of South Alabama (USA). Suraj has served in executive positions at prominent non profit organizations in Nepal and has implemented projects with the World Bank, Department for International Development / Enabling State Program, European Commission, Save the Children, and other international organizations. A graduate of the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University (USA), he is also a trainer and consultant for development projects. He is currently Executive Chairman of Kathmandu Academy that offers qualifications of Cambridge University International Examinations - A Level. Mr. Dahal is an active advocate of the project management profession and is the founding member and General Secretary of the Project Management Association of Nepal (PMAN).
