Signed Agreements and MOUs
Buttress Industrial Cooperation
between Russia and Nigeria

Following the first-ever visit by a Russian President to Nigeria, made by Mr. Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, agreements were signed on Wednesday, June 24th , by the presidents of Russia and Nigeria on behalf of their respective countries. The agreements came after bilateral discussions between the representatives of the two countries. Without looking at their political implications, we present the highlights to summarise the potential industrial benefits of the agreements to the two countries.

Highlights of the Agreements

The agreements included the following important elements that can affect future projects and programs in Nigeria:

  1. Cooperation in the application of nuclear energy for peaceful use

  2. Cooperation in exploration of peaceful exploration and use of outer space

  3. An MOU on a joint venture between NNPC and GAZPROM…

Dr. O. Chima Obereke, Ph.D., MBA, PMP is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PMWorld Today in Nigeria. Chima is also now sponsor and president of a potential chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) in Port Harcourt. Dr. Okereke has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos, and a Ph.D. and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Bradford in the UK. With over 25 years of experience in industrial operations and PM, he has been a registered engineer in Nigeria since 1983.
