News From the Project Management Profession

The Buenos Aires Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMIBA) is facing a very active year that might be seen through the following achievements:

• An increasing amount of volunteers is taking part of almost 20 projects of PMIBA. From managing a LinkedIn group, to establishing research agreements with universities, and many others, the tasks being faced are giving dynamism to the PMI community in Argentina

• The new website of the chapter is really a site of news for all the PMs in Argentina, including sections for regional communities (visit now: www.pmi.org.ar)

• The increasing amount of meetings, seminars and events being developed in 4 cities of the country

• The increasing amount of members (almost 400 now with almost 200 PMPs)

• And the increasing support from Sponsors.

The Chapter is being successful so far on the establishment of regional communities in Mendoza (Branch in formation), Rosario (committee) and Córdoba (committee), the most important cities of the country besides Buenos Aires.

Ana Maria Rodriguez International Correspondent - Argentina Based in Rosario    Ms. Ana Maria Rodriguez is founder and manager of ERA Project Management, offering consulting services to the Engineering and Construction Industry in Rosario, Argentina, and is an adjunct professor of project management at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario. Colombian by birth, Ms. Rodriguez graduated with a Civil Engineering Degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota and from the University of Texas at Austin, USA with a Masters Degree in Construction Engineering and Project Management (MSE). Ms Rodriguez has implemented Project Management best practices and managed projects both in the government sector and in the engineering and construction private sector. Ms. Rodriguez is also an active member of PMI in Argentina, and is an international correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today in Argentina.
