Introduction
This third quarter was really busy for the project management community in Brazil. Some of the most important events happened in October and November, and we still have more to come!
PM Profession News
In December 15th, in Rio de Janeiro, will happen the ceremony of the Project of the Year Award, organized by the Mundo Project Management magazine and the Fundação Getúlio Vargas business school. The award, created last year, recognizes the excellence in project management and the competence of Brazilian professionals.
PM Events
IX Seminário Internacional de Gerenciamento de Projetos – PMI-SP – Oct. 27-29 – with more than 620 attendees, the IX International Seminar organized by the PMI-SP Chapter showed a different way of doing a conference. Focusing on innovation and networking, the event had a strong interaction among the public and the speakers, and had representatives from some of the largest companies in Brazil, such as Petrobras, Bradesco, Siemens, Rockwell, Promon, Alston do Brasil, CPM Braxis, Ericsson, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Tecban, T-Systems, etc.
About the Author Peter Mello, SpS, PMP Peter Berndt de Souza Mello, SpS, PMP is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today in Brazil. Peter has over 13 years experience on a variety of projects in South America. His PM experience includes major IT projects, Telecom, Oil & Gas. Peter Mello is an educator, researcher and consultant in Scheduling optimization, Portfolio and Risk Management. Peter actively participates in the Brazilian and International PM community, with recent papers presented at various PMI events in Brazil and elsewhere. He is on the board of directors of X25 Training and Consulting and Spider Management Technologies Brazil. Andre Augusto Choma, PMP is an International Correspondent for PMForum in Brazil. Andre has over 9 years experience on a variety of projects in South America and Africa. His PM experience includes construction, IT and governmental projects. Andre Choma is an educator and consultant in capital projects and risk management for Latin America. Andre actively participates in the Brazilian and International PM community, with recent papers presented at various PMI events in North and South America, Europe and Asia. He is a consultant and project analyst at Independent Project Analysis (IPA) Latin America, and the author of a book about contractors’ management in construction projects.
