The launch of the formation of a community of practice for Planning and Scheduling on 19 March 2009 was a resounding success, with around 70 attendees. A steering committee was formed and a lot of enthusiasm came to light. The two speakers at the launch were Kevin In’t Veld and Stewart Goodman under the chaipersonship of Roger Layton, PMSA’s VP SIGs.
The goal is to achieve standardization and increase the awareness of project planning and scheduling within South Africa and to assist aspiring planners and schedulers to accomplish their goals by encouraging the continued study, curriculum development and academic research in project management planning and scheduling techniques.
