Project Management eJournal

Letter to Editor

On the May PMWT Editorial entitled “Take a Trip”

7 May 2010

Dear David L. Pells,

I am a Sudanese Engineer working in Project Management for Oil & Gas Sector since 1983.

I read your paper about your experience in International Travel for PM Professionals with interest.

Really it is a very fruitful paper containing many useful information.

But, I found that you have not visited any African country yet, which from my point of view will let you gain too, too much diverse & rich cultures .

If you do not mind I am inviting you to visit Sudan, to contact with sudanese project management professionals

We are now on the way to establish Sudanese Project Management Society from an already existing Project Management Forum –

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

Eng. Mohamed Elfatih A. Abdoun, PMP, MBA

Editor’s response:

Dear Mohamed,

Thank you for your email and invitation. It is great to learn that our monthly eJournal is read in Sudan .

First, I wonder if we might publish your email in the June edition as a Letter to the Editor? That might also provide you with more contacts and some visibility for your efforts to start a Sudanese PM Society.

Second, congratulations on this effort to launch a PM association in Sudan . Can you tell me more about the existing PM Forum in Sudan and the efforts to launch a society? How many people? Where based? Where headquarters? What time frame? I think this could be the subject of a breaking news article.

Third, we would welcome an International Correspondent in Sudan – in case you or another local PM leader might be interested. PMForum now has over 40 correspondents around the world, including five in other African countries. You can see some information about current correspondents at http://www.pmforum.org/pm%20forum%20team/index.htm.

Finally, in response to your invitation, it would be an honor for me to visit you and your new association in Sudan . Unfortunately, as you may have noticed in my article, my availability during the balance of 2010 is very limited already – at least one big trip per month for the rest of the year. Therefore it will not be possible for me to come to Sudan this year. It might be a possibility for 2011, although it would need to be planned (and budgeted). If you don’t mind, can I defer this invitation for a few months.

In any case, it would be great if we can start to report some project and PM news from your country.

Thank you again for your kind email, and
Sincerely,

David L. Pells
