On the Interview with Ricardo Triana

Dear David,

In response to the your great interview with Ricardo Triana in the December issue of PM World Today, I would like to express my complete agreement with just about everything he says, and in particular with these wise words of his :

"We have also pushed too much for recognizing project management as a profession or as an organizational title, when to be honest it is more important to recognize that project management is a set of skills, knowledge and experience that any professional – from any industry or hierarchical level – can use to produce business value and results."

At the Second Congreso Nacional de Gerencia de Proyectos, Oct. 24-25 2003, at the Universidad Nacional de Ingeneria/UNI in Lima, Peru, sponsored by the Student Section of the Lima Chapter of PMI, Engineer Roberto Morales Morales, Rector of UNI, said almost exactly the same thing:

"Project management must be a way of life for every professional."

I have never forgotten those words and use them whenever I can. My congratulations to Ricardo on his election to the PMI Board of Directors and as President of the South Florida Chapter of PMI. It is very encouraging to know that his voice will be heard at the Board of Directors level of PMI.
