Letter to the Editor:
Regarding Michael O’Brochta’s article in the June edition of PM World Today – on the subject of “The New Federal Project Management Credential” in the USA
3 June 2009
Dear David --
The article in the June issue by Michael O'Brochta would make it appear that the only options for Federal Employees are provided by the Project Management Institute, Inc. In fact, advanced certifications such as those offered by the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (asapm) are not only available, but provide a higher degree of assurance since they focus on actual, on-the-job performance rather than knowledge as tested by a multiple choice exam.
An additional irony is that Mr. O'Brochta mentions "total ownership cost" as a key subject. asapm's credentials have a substantially lower TOC since candidates do not need to spend large sums getting trained on how to pass the exam. If your readers are interested in more information, they should stop by our web site at www.pmcert.org.
