On a Student Research Project on IT Project Failures
February 12 , 2008
Dear Sir:
I am a final year student reading Computing and Management at Loughborough University, UK, and I am currently working on my dissertation looking into IT Project success rates. During my research,
I have been reading your website and I have found it most useful.
My research aims to discover links between success and the various attributes of the project including the number of people involved, the complexity and if outsourcing is used. The results will then be analyzed for patterns in the relationships between this attributes which will lead to a series of recommendations that project managers can use to improve the likelihood of success for their projects.
The reason that I am writing to you is to ask if you would mind helping me with my primary research. I have an online questionnaire designed for Project Managers to complete with details of their most recent 3 projects since January 2005 and another questionnaire for anyone involved in IT projects.
Would you mind mentioning this on your website? In return, both yourself and anyone who completes the questionnaire would be entitled to an electronic copy of the report and results once the study is complete at the end of May 2008 which should prove to contain very valuable information.
