Berlin's Institute of Technology to host IRNOP IX

IRNOP – the International Research Network on Organising by Projects have announced that their biannual research conference for 2009 will be held in Berlin over the period 11 – 13 October.

The Berlin Institute of Technology will act as host and the Conference Chair is Prof Dr Hans-Georg Gemünden (pictured below left) , the renowned researcher and author of books and papers on a wide range of management topics related to project, programme and innovation.

The conference theme is ‘Organizing by Projects’ so the range of topics is likely to be wide indeed. The formal call for papers has not yet been made available publicly but the conference website is http://www.irnop2009.org/ where further details will be posted.

The IRNOP Project Research Conference aims to bi-annually gather scholars from all over the world who have a research interest in projects. Founded in 1993 as a loosely coupled network of researchers, IRNOP has developed from there, adding researchers in countries all over the world. The IRNOP network connects scholars with a background in business, economics, engineering and other fields, with a common interest in projects, project organizations and temporary systems. So far, IRNOP has organized eight conferences including Brighton, UK, in 2007 and Xi’an, PR China in 2006.

23rd IPMA World Congress on Project Management
to be in Helsinki, Finland during June 2009

The 22nd IPMA World Congress on Project Management was held during 9-11 November 2008 in Rome, Italy. The 23rd IPMA World Congress will be held in Helsinki, Finland during June 15-17, 2009. The Helsinki congress team had a booth in the Exhibition at the Roma 2008 congress in Rome and was distributing information about next year’s world congress.

In addition, the closing ceremony on 11 November in Rome included a presentation about the Helsinki Congress by Jyry Louhisto, General Manager of Projektiyhdistys (Project Management Association Finland) and Program Director for the 2009 congress, along with a short video about Helsinki, Finland and the next congress.

The theme for the 23rd IPMA World Congress on Project Management in Helsinki next year will be “Refresh Yourself – Project World 2.0.” According to the project brochure, “A next-step endeavor aimed at regenerating project professionalism and helping to move a valuable industry forward. A learning opportunity guided by leading thoughts. Designed to be attractive to management and leadership...” This should be an interesting and exciting event.

The local host of the 23rd IPMA World Congress on Project Management in Helsinki will be Projektiyhdistys, Project Management Association Finland, based in Espoo, Finland. Projektiyhdistys is the national membership body for Finland in the International Project Management Association (IPMA). The general manager of Projekiyhdistys is Jyry Louhisto, who is also the project director for the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Finland.

Advice from the Front Lines - Business Boot Camp Announced for February 2009 BPUG Congress in UK

Managers facing challenging circumstances as they steer their organisations through the recession are invited to a 40 minute Business Boot Camp, taking place at the International Congress for Programme and Project Management on 10 February 2009.

Colonel Bob Stewart DSO – a former UN Commander and master military strategist - will kick off the event with this intensive training session. “I will provide delegates with a unique insight into business management and strategy, drawing upon lessons from real-life military scenarios,” Colonel Stewart says.

PMForum Named Media Partner for 23rd IPMA World Congress
on Project Management in Finland

PMForum has been named a Media Partner for the 23rd IPMA World Congress to be held in Helsinki, Finland during June 15-17, 2009. The media partner agreement was signed during the PM Days Project Management Symposium in on 18 November 2008.

According to Jyry Louhisto, General Manager of Project Management Association Finland (PMAF) and Director for the 2009 congress, "We are very happy to have PMForum as our partner for the 2009 IPMA World Congress. The 2009 IPMA world congress will be held in the Helsinki Fair Centre, Finland’s International Convention Center in downtown Helsinki. Welcome party is organized by the City of Helsinki at the city hall. A traditional Gala Dinner will be held in Helsinki’s world famous Finlandia Concert Hall, and a special Finnish Summer Garden Party is being planned for the historic Kalastajatorppa hotel (now Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa). Mr. Louhisto provided David Pells with a tour of those beautiful facilities on 20 November 2008.

16th Global Project Management Symposium in New Delhi

According to the conference team in New Delhi, the 16th Global Project Management Symposium 2008 in India is all set to roll.
