Introduction

Project Portfolios must be strategic to the organization. If the goals/strategy of the organization are not closely aligned to the portfolio then the deliverables produced under the portfolio will be of little use to the organization. Although this may seem straightforward it is not easy to accomplish in the real world.

Overview of the Book's Structure

The book is extremely well written and organized. The author successfully conveys his vision of the ideal/optimal portfolio management system. He is not providing simple recipes rather he is sharing his high level view of how a mature portfolio management process should work. At the end of each chapter you will find Suggested Readings, questions for reflection and case studies throughout. In addition the book has its own website/blog www.strategicppm.wordpress.com .

Highlights: What I liked!

Ideally in running a proper portfolio the goal is to have effective strategy and also to be able to deploy agile infrastructure to support the portfolio and goals of the organization.
