Early Bird Discount Available for February Requirements Workshops in OregonGathering and Writing Great Product, Project or Program Requirements are two public workshops being offered by the Program Management Academy during February 18 and 19, 2010. The workshops will be held in Tigard, Oregon, USA, which is near Portland. Early bird pricing for the Gathering Requirements and Writing Great Requirements workshops has now been announced. These workshops contain exercises with real work situations in an environment where students interact with others while developing their requirements engineering skills. ![]() The workshops are open to the public. The instructor will be Debra Lavell (pictured at right), a nationally recognized requirements-training expert who has taught this and related courses to thousands of individuals. Gathering Requirements Workshop description: There are many types of requirements, each fulfilling a specific role in the total scheme of things. You will learn how to differentiate between types of requirements and how each type must be handled in its own particular way. Various techniques for gathering both functional and non-functional requirements will be presented, as well as the connection between usage models, use cases, and good requirements. By the end of the workshop, you will have a practical process to take back to your organization for gathering high-quality requirements. The workshop is one-day; attendees receive 8 PDUs. Writing Great Requirements Workshop description: This workshop will help you to comprehensively identify all the project stakeholders and be sure that their requirements, needs and outcomes are understood and integrated into the development process. By learning a few, simple formalisms, you can assure that your requirements will be documented in an unambiguous and clearly understandable manner so that both the developers and the stakeholders can understand them. This substantially increases the chances that the outcomes of the project match the expectations of the stakeholders. The workshop is one-day; attendees receive 8 PDUs.
