PM-05 Project Management Conference to be in Crete in May 2010

The fifth Project Management Conference (PM-05) in Greece promoting communication between international multi-disciplinary teams in the field of project management and related disciplines has been announced for 29-31 May 2010. Following the very successful Conference in 2008 in Chios, the 2010 conference will be at the Moevenpick Resort & Thalasso Hotel in Heraklion on the historic island of Crete. The theme of PM-05: Advancing Project Management for the 21st Century is "Concepts, Tools & Techniques for Managing Successful Projects."


According to the conference announcement, "a solid tradition of international Scientific Conferences on Project Management (SCPM) has been established through the past years in Greece. Athens, Thessaloniki and the island of Chios have had the opportunity to host the preceding SCPMs in the years 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2008. The PM-05 Conference aims to further synergy for closer cooperation, business relations and know-how exchange in project management in the international context. PM-05 will be organized along scientific and professional streams in order to promote both research and business outcomes."

Project management stakeholders worldwide are invited to attend the conference and contribute with their knowledge and experience to the success of the event. The invitation is extended, but not limited to academics, researchers, industrialists, professionals, policy makers, assessors and certification & funding bodies concerned with projects and programmes in every economic sector.

The attendees are also invited to present papers and posters dealing with appropriate PM themes of interest such as:
  • Concepts, Techniques & Tools
  • Current Issues, New Approaches & Case Studies
  • Decision Making, Risk Analysis & Sustainability
  • Cross-border Cooperation & Cultural Aspects
  • Contract Management, Partnership & PPPs
  • Information Technology & Information Systems
  • Standards & Maturity Models
  • Education, Training & Certification Issues
  • Professional Issues & Ethical Codes
  • Green project management & sustainability
Papers can deal with research results, case studies, best practices and technology developments. Abstracts and full papers should be submitted on-line through the Conference website http://2010.pmgreece.gr  

Special Sessions, workshops and seminars can be organized in the frame of the conference. Proposals for the organization of such activities can be addressed to the conference Chair at jpp@central.ntua.gr  

Crete is the largest island in Greece. Next to being the home of the first European civilisation - the Minoan civilization dating 5000 years ago, the island offers mountains and sandy beaches which belong among the finest in the world. Crete has a mild Mediterranean climate and the conference participants will have

the opportunity to taste one of the oldest and most tasty gastronomic traditions in the world and to enjoy the famous Cretan hospitality.

PM-05 is being organized by the Centre for Construction Innovation, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in cooperation with the Network of Project Managers in Greece (PM-Greece), the Scientific Association for the Advancement of Project Management in Greece.
